To become a volunteer you need to attend three consecutive meetings. The first one being our Business Meeting, which is held the first Wednesday of the month. Then on the third Wednesday, we have our training meeting. Next is the third meeting, which will be the Business Meeting, where current members will vote on whether to offer membership to you.

Being a Member

The Montana City Volunteer Fire Department provides training and all necessary gear to members free of charge. Members are issued a pager, structure gear and wildland gear. In your first year you will complete a 30 hour structure training class, a 16 hour Basic Wildland Class and training once a month. In addition there are numerous other training opportunities throughout the year. Members must complete a minimum of 30 hours of training each year. Your training will include topics such as pump operations, structural and wildland tactics, working on getting our turnouts and SCBA gear on in less than 2 minutes, tabletop exercises and many other exercises to help us serve the public better. Safety for our members and the public is always a focus of our training.
